MUNDANE
Art / Science / Sound / Place

Extraordinary realities.
Human experience.

LOOK CLOSER. STAY CURIOUS.
NO MUNDANE LLC
begin with a closer look
The premise

The mundane
does not exist.

There are only things we have stopped seeing.

No Mundane creates encounters with the extraordinary realities already present in matter, music, light, and the places we share. A change in scale, perspective, or attention can bring them within reach.

The same world.
A different way of seeing.

From “Mundane” to “No Mundane,” what changes is our attention. Familiarity gives way to curiosity, connection, and wonder. The extraordinary was present at every level.

Ten stages of perception, from passing by to seeing anew.
LevelStageWhat changes
1MundaneHabit and familiar names do the looking for us. A tree is just a tree. A record is just a record.
2NoticeAttention slows. A texture, sound, movement, or shadow comes into view. We look again.
3CuriosityNoticing becomes a question. What is this made of? What is happening inside it? What am I missing?
4Hidden RealityWe discover what our ordinary scale, speed, or senses cannot reveal. The unseen begins to feel real.
5Perspective ShiftA change of scale or viewpoint changes the familiar. A record groove becomes architecture. A walk becomes a journey through the Solar System.
6AstonishmentKnowledge becomes felt experience. We hold the everyday appearance and its astonishing reality together.
7InterconnectionSeparate things reveal relationships. A breath connects the body with air, plants, sunlight, and planetary history.
8Existential AwarenessWe recognize ourselves within the reality we are observing. The encounter becomes personal: I am part of this, too.
9Wonder / SublimeFamiliar categories loosen. Existence itself can feel immense, mysterious, and deeply present.
10No MundaneWe return to the same world with changed perception. It did not become extraordinary. It was never ordinary.
The return test

When the installation, explanation, or technology falls away, does the real world itself look different?

A creative framework for attention, not a scientific measurement or a ranking of people. These stages can overlap; there is no prescribed response. Read the manifesto →

The Invisible Universe

Particle tracks offer a glimpse of events beyond our senses. These studies explore how their relationships can become lines, light, and spaces we move through.

Song in 3D

A performance has a shape in time. Give its pitch, rhythm, and intensity a physical form, and a fleeting moment becomes something we can return to.

Walk the Music

A phrase becomes a path. A pause opens a clearing. A crescendo rises beside you. The pace of your walk becomes another way to hear.

Something happened here.

Curves, crossings, and spirals record traces of particle interactions. Science makes those traces visible. The artistic question is how to encounter their beauty, structure, and mystery at the scale of a room.

Groove Canyon / interior concept

A record holds a performance in the shape of a groove.

Groove Canyon imagines that microscopic terrain enlarged until a person can move between its walls. The path a stylus follows becomes a path for the body.

Music was physical all along. A change of scale lets us meet it differently.

The distance
is the experience.

Begin beside a small Sun. Imagine walking toward Earth, then onward to the outer planets. Familiar streets become a way to feel the vastness of the Solar System.

Choose the Sun’s size and location. The planets’ sizes and mean orbital distances follow the same scale. Explore what that relationship could mean in a place you know.

One Atom / An interactive scale study

A single atom.
A vast new perspective.

Enlarge the nucleus of hydrogen to something you can hold. Then discover how far its characteristic atomic scale reaches across the landscape.

The map gives a familiar distance to an unfamiliar relationship. A soft cloud suggests the electron’s probability distribution; a marker gives you a scale to explore.

Follow a connection.
See a system.

A suspended network of light, chambers, and branching paths offers a way into the hidden processes of machine intelligence.

Signals gather, pass through layers, and find relationships. The sculpture imagines these processes at a scale we can walk around—a physical invitation to ask how information becomes meaningful.

An artistic model of connections, attention, and learning.

From knowledge to encounter
Science provides the foundation.
Art provides the experience.

We begin with a real phenomenon and ask what keeps it beyond our awareness. Then we change the conditions: enlarge it, slow it down, bring it closer, or give it a form the body can understand.
